La-la-la-la

The girls perform their first song of the year on the fifthteenth of this month. They have been working really hard on getting each song just tight and making really good progress.

This year, Jules will be singing "Angels" by Amy Grant and "Love Changes Everything" from the musical Aspects of Love by Sir Andrew Lloyd Weber.

Kitty is performing "This Is My Father's World" - author unknown and "Friends" by Michael W. Smith.

New this year is a duet. They will being singing "The Coloring Song" by Petra together. Additionally, we are hoping most of the performances will be sung with live guitar accompaniment. An instrumental version of the song is not available, but Mommy was able to get a copy of the sheet music. Another student of their instructor volunteered to record the guitar back-up for the vocals. The girls have been using thus version for practice and will be using it at perormances only if the youngman is unable to attend. What a unique experience for the girls!

Press for CPS

A journalist from Augusta, GA has written an article detailing some of his journey with Central Pain Syndrome. He also has included some websites if the reader wants more information. Please note: This man received some relief from the drug Cymbalta. CPS is such a multifaceted disease that no one treatment will work nor cure it.

I hope you enjoy reading this article as much as Mommy did.

Sugar Less

We just got back from the dentist's Candy Buy Back event. We sold them 6 POUNDS of candy! We had collected the hard candy and lollipops we had around the house and added it to what we weeded out from last night's haul. As a result of this "sale", Kitty and Jules got $3 each. They put the money in their banks to wait until they decide what to buy. Or, they may use it as a donation for church.

Gifts they got from the dentist include a glowing toothbrush, dental floss and toothpaste.

Halloween!

Halloween was fun. The girls wore their princess outfits we purchased for the Renaissance Faire last year. They wore them again at this year's Faire, as well. This year, we added period cloaks for the girls.

We went to Michael's for a craft clinic. Then we saw "Grandpa" Ed and "Grandma" Anne at the store. We got a free picture of the girls in their costumes there, as well.

In the evening, we bundled up and went to a local church. They had free lemonade and hotdogs, plus games where the girls could win candy.

Afterwards, we trekked through the neighborhood. By this time, it was getting a bit dark. The girls wanted to go all around, but we knew that wouldn't work. We walked and walked. At long last, they were ready to go home.

When both bounties were combined, it measured just about 5 pounds. That's a lot of candy! Unfortunately, Kitty and Jules didn't like the idea of donating all of the chocolate to Mom.

Tomorrow, we are making a trip to the dentist. They are buying candy at $1/pound and sending the purchased candy to our soldiers in Iraq. Pretty cool.

Another Monumental Day in the Life of a Learner

This morning, before church, Kitty read the entire book, "Ten Apples up on Top", by herself. It is part of the Dr. Seuss series of young reader books.

Hurray, Kitty!!!!

Miscarriage of Justice

This is a Daddy rant, but Mommy agrees.

Barack Insane Obomination is the winner of the noble peace prize. For what?!?!?!?!

Senior Noble must be spinning in his grave. This man is destroying our economy with health care, the environment with cash and destroy, and the used car market with cash for clunkers. What has he done to advance peace? He has weakened our place in the world, especially with his apology tours, giving american rights to those who want to destroy this nation. Hopefully, conservatives can keep him in check until 2010, when we can re-infuse some sanity into that puzzle palace that is surrounded by something called reality (Washington, D.C.). This only confirms the notion that the Noble committee is the most worthless organization or perhaps second, only to the gaggle of dictators called the United Nations. Why give the prize to liberal agenda loons and not to the US military or how about the people of Iraq or Afghanistan for their struggles against the terror masters.

The nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize was to have been submitted by February 1, 2009. Obama took office only 12 days earlier, on January 20, 2009. How is it possible to do anything to give the world "hope for the future" in that time? His public schedule for those 12 days can be found here. Based on this information, regardless of which side of the political "aisle" you may be on, this does not validate this award. It is ludicrous to honor someone for something he may or may not do in the future. If that is to become a standard, them everyone is the world should receive an Academy Award, a Tony, the Congressional Medal of Honor, as well as every Nobel Prize available.

We cannot say what Obama will do in the future. Perhaps he will become a good president. But does that really merit such an award?
